Easter Tips and Egg Rolling

Many folks seek out their church of choice to celebrate Easter’s concept of hope and new life where once only darkness existed. At least that is my take on the holiday. Me?  I never attend church.

I energize my spirit by watching the birds splash in a puddle, or by inhaling the fresh sweet breeze rustling in the trees. Did you know my mom was born on Easter? I think maybe she embraces   a deep insight about this holiday even though she jokes that   the Easter Bunny mistook her for an egg.

If Easter is a special day, I imagine it is because the holiday is a   celebration of what spring represents.  The season is nature’s reward for those, who held on to their faith throughout the dark winter, that all would be provided.

The afterlife is of no concern to me, since I have nine lives to live. In addition, I live in the present, a concept in which others struggle. My philosophy allows me to be free and enjoy my life.  In order to help you celebrated I would like to pass on  an Easter decorating tip and  a game the entire family can play.

 

 

Aren’t these peeps the cutest?   All you have to do is rinse out and  save those eggs shells  from breakfast and then grab a cotton ball  and glue it to the inside of the shell. Next make the cut out for the eyes and nose, color it, and glue it on the cotton ball.

This morning I discovered several of these peeps   in my Easter Basket. I can’t wait to bat them around, hide them and watch Judy look for them.

 

I am excited to introduce to everyone a new Easter tradition, Easter Egg Rolling. Judy explained that   every Easter her family gathered in the typically, large kitchen of her grandmother’s house. Everyone, -adults and children, family and friends - brought their personalized eggs, which they had painstakingly decorated. They often brought extras because the competition could become fierce. I suggest you do the same.

 

Rolling Easter eggs requires decorated, hard-boiled eggs. This year, as the quality control expert, I assisted Judy in the process of boiling and dying the eggs.

1.      Place the Easter Egg Ramp on a smooth surfaced floor. Judy’s grandmother’s kitchen floors was linoleum.  A concrete patio is perfect. 

2.      Place your beautiful, prize winning decorated egg at the top of the ramp and let go.

3.      Watch the egg wobble down the ramp, veer off, either to the left or the right, and come to a stop. Exciting so far right? 

When I watch this game, I can hardly contain myself from jumping up and batting the egg.  If you are the first inline to roll your egg, you have nothing to worry about.

4.      Here’s where it gets more exiting. The next person to roll his or her egg will be aiming for your egg.

5.      If any of the players’ eggs hits your egg, you have to pay him the required fee. The fee in grandmother’s kitchen was a penny. I think the fee should be raised to twenty-five cents.

What happens when your egg is hits  another? If hit hard enough, it will develop a dent, thus impairing it rolling speed and distance.  As the game progresses, the dented eggs stops closer to the ramp, increasing the odds of being hit. Sometimes there are so many dents, it stops at the end of the ramp. Time for that spare egg you brought.

That’s the new, inexpensive family tradition I want to see go viral. I can visualize this game being called Christmas Egg Rolling and Halloween Egg Rolling.  For those of you who are against exposing your children to violence, let’s replace that Piñata. When playing Birthday Egg Rolling, the fees could be treats instead of money.

Literary Oasis -From Ajo, Az.to Hemet Ca. - An Artist Retreat, and A treat for Artists

January and February swept me up fluffing my fur and twitching my tail with exciting adventures . I spent every spare minute prowling the Arizona countryside, enjoying the desert solitude.

Quartzite will always be my favorite place, but Judy added a little town close to Organ Pipe National Monument called Ajo to her favs list.

The Curly School in Ajo, Az. has become an artist's retreat. Ajo is a great town to host a retreat.

In Ajo, Judy met up with an author friend,  Deb Sanders. The two of them  visited an open pit copper mine and attended a fiddler’s jam session in the plaza  as they talked about writing, publishing and marketing while I scratched out the last chapters of my book, ACTIVATE LION MODE. I ignored Judy's  jokes about “the cat and the fiddle” and “Hey diddle diddle” when she returned from touring the quaint little town.


When we moved on to Tucson I said goodbye to Jake, Deb’s kindly golden retriever and Deb’s muse, Johnny Cat.


 On the way to Tucson, Az. we stopped in  Gila Bend and met these creatures. Wow! I stayed safe in the motorhome.






But in Tucson, I encountered another golden retriever, Bella, a service dog, whom Judy met several years ago in St Augustine, Florida. Bella is a graduate  service dog from  the actual  K9s For Warriors training facility  in Ponte Vedra, Florida which inspired the fictional  K9s For Warriors which is   mentioned in  Judy’s book, MASADA’S MARINE and also in her upcoming book, MASADA’S MISSION.







Bella is kindhearted, too, but, but just like Jake she rushed up to meet me. That is totally improper in my cat book. Bella’s dad Kevin and Jake’s dad Terry explained that their dogs lived with cats of their own.  I can’t imagine  any cat putting up with such unsophisticated behavior, but then dog's are so unsophisticated.

Judy and I were sitting outside the other day enjoying the sunshine when she looked at me and asked, “Your toes tap a rhythm when you sleep.  Are you dreaming of another story?”

Really? She should know that my days have been  full as I wrap up the last chapters of my very first book, ACTIVATE LION MODE, the first book in my first series, FELINE FURY.  For days on end, I have pounded my paws against the keyboard. From the time Judy walks away from the computer  in the evening  and goes to bed  until the wee morning hours, I hunch over the keys, study  the words on the screen.

 In the morning, she fixes my breakfast, and takes me for a walk. She’s been catering to me lately, putting extra cream in my coffee and scratching my back a lot more. She’s excited about ACTIVATE LION MODE and can hardly wait to publish it.

So to answer her question, I am feeling the   callings and hearing voices from past lives.  I can't deny it. New story ideas are flashing into my mind even while I’m scratching out the last paragraphs of ACTIVATE LION MODE. I’m possessed. I’m either writing, or thinking about writing.  So is this what an author’s life is like?

I tweeted Johnny Cat, who assists Deb Sanders, who just published her ninth  book titled, . DEAD MEN DON'T TALK. He explained that even though he only assists Deb Sanders, he is exhausted.

I expect  I will find out what  living the life of a published writer is all about. Judy will be attending the second meeting of The Diamond Valley Writers Guild, in Hemet, Ca.  My own, Judy Howard, along with authors,  Lynne Spreen and  CJ Hernley will be moderators for the roundtable discussion about "Getting Started."

Feline Fury: Activate Lion Mode

I am still keeping my resolutions! Yoga is my favorite exercise to keep my mind clear, and focused on the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

As a cat I live in the moment, but my experiences make me who I am.  For those readers whom I have not met, I am an adventuresome  cat, who prowls tours the country in a Winnebago motorhome.  I travel with my chauffeur, personal assistant, and co-author, Judy Howard  who insists that I give her some credit.  

Many people are saying  my rise to popularity has only come about because Judy is a top ranking author on Amazon, and that I am riding her coat tails tales tails to gain publicity for my first novel in my  FELINE FURY SERIES  titled, ACTIVATE LION MODE, which  will be on the shelves this spring. Some are whispering that I am sleeping with her, to achieve my success, but I  decline to sniff at those tails tales twitching in the wind.

 I get around. Many  of my friends are successful authors, though some are ghostwriters. That is why you have never heard of them. My  new friend Johnny Cat is a best selling  mystery writer  who writes under the pen name of Deb Sanders .

While Deb goes hiking for hours in the Arizona,  here  is my friend Johnny Cat, exhausted after finishing  his  latest mystery, DEAD MEN DON'T TALK . He doesn’t  like the responsibility that fame entales entails, so he allows all credit to go to his personal assistant,  Deb Sanders.

 

 

 

 

Not me. I love my fans. I am happiest when my fans  beg to pet me. I can hardly wait for my book, ACTIVATE LION MODE  to be unleashed released. It is the first in my new FELINE FURY SERIES about one of my nine lives.

As Judy and I travel through the Olympic National Forest, we have a terrible accident in our motorhome and Judy is whisked off to the hospital. I am left to fend for myself in the wilderness of the Olympic Forest. In the beginning, I am excited about the plot that fate has delivered to me. I always dreamed of living in the wild. I begin on an adventure   that every cat and every person dreams of , Living Free, until…. Ooops! No more. Just bat that around for a while.

CHAPTER ONE

 

My eyes sprang open. The hair on my back stood on end. Judy’s scream pierced my ears, joining the howls of the protesting motor home. My sleek graceful body slammed against the windshield. Outside, the screech of the tires mixed with strange sounds of groaning metal and crackling fiberglass. Our sanctuary lurched off the road, airborne, like the birds I envied. The windshield, which insulated me from the dangers of the outside world crammed painfully against my ribs. Jagged lines crawled and crunched across my once, unobstructed view, while branches, rocks, and dirt spewed up and pounded the varicose pattern. The glass wall of security gave way.

 

Judy and I sailed as if we would meet the heavens....

2015 In Review - Feline Fury Series Coming to Town!

Feliz Navidad!!

Merry Christmas!  I Hope you all had a wonderful day.

I am not one to look at the past nor to shut the door on it either, but I will be a published author soon. In  the process of writing my first book, I’ve learned to scratch up memories and stretch my experiences in order to bat around create a good yarn story.

In review, 2015, has been a cat walk, a walk in the park, and a leap of faith all rolled into one big year.

My decision to break out on my own was scary, exciting and life changing.. Last January I pinned back my ears and  began my project, strutting and hissing with the confidence of a cat activating the lion mode. 

 

At the top of this  year, January 2015, on my blog, The Cat's Perspective of Reading, Writing, and Life, I exposed Chapter One of my  first book, of my new FELINE FURY SERIES - ACTIVATE LION MODE. I hoped to have this kitten on the shelf before my birthday on  April 21^st

I envisioned the process as a walk in the park, but instead it became the work of a demented cat.

My life became  scratching  out words, covering  them up, only to claw out different words and bury them as well.

Writing is scratching out words ‘til your claws bleed, covering them in sand, and then swatting at new words, and painfully killing them off, too. Judy had warned me,

writing is rewriting, but I pointed my tail skyward, twitched it, and strutted off. 

 



Twelve months later my calloused  paws knead the pages of my manuscript as  my mind  treads imaginary waters.



 

But my story!! My story is incredible!  ACTIVATE LION MODE  carries a message for all young adults and cats with eight lives ahead of them.

“Living the life and  becoming independent is an honorable  goal, but not at the price of turning your tail  back on  those who love and care for you.”

My  message from my first book in the series FELINE FURY will change lives. I can see myself prancing down the cat walk as my fans, feline and human alike,  clap and howl as I present ACTIVATE LION MODE at each book  marking signing event.

In the meantime, as I wrap up the last chapters, Judy and I are on the road again, with seminars and engagements lined up.

Jan 5^th- thru the 9^th Judy will be presenting two seminars at the 28th Annual FMCA Western RV Rally In Indio, Ca.Part One, Have You Ever Thought About Writing? on Thursday January 7^th and Part Two, What Makes a Good Story?  Saturday, January 9^t.h.

Everyone loves Judy’s seminars. Even if you have attended her workshops before,  Judy is famous for  setting your inspiration on fire.  The seminars  are  free, and  if you are not registered to attend  the Rally in your RV, walk-in. Day passes are only $10.00.

The rally is not only an opportunity to attend Judy’s seminars, it offers a wealth of information about anything you want to know about the RVing  lifestyle.  The rally is the venue for all you cats friends on Facebook  and those of you who  have been following my blog,  The Cat's Perspective Of Reading, Writing, And Life . I  you want your caretakers to take the leap and live a life like mine, rich in the  freedom of being on  the road, an RV rally is packed with information and friendly folks who will gladly share their experiences and opinions.

After the rally you may want to hang out at the nearby The Fantasy Springs Casino  in Indio, California  and  to see The Temptations And The Four Tops perform on the 15^th. Me? I want to see Tony Bennet on the 16^th.
